About the creator
I started Bay & Birch Letters because I know how lonely widowhood can feel, especially when you’re raising children and trying to keep moving through a life you never expected. I lost my husband in 2022 when our kids were still only 4 and 9.
There’s a strange ache in wishing people could understand, while never wanting anyone else to have to learn this grief firsthand.
For me, finding other widows—even women living far away—made me feel held. Their words reminded me I wasn’t the only one carrying this. I wanted to create a small, steady way to offer that same kind of connection.
Each month, I write from the perspective of someone who has been there. You’ll receive a letter, a little handwritten note that names your person, and a small something to keep close. If you’re choosing this as a gift, it’s a way to say: I’m thinking of you, and I’m still here.
These letters won’t make grief disappear. I hope they bring a moment of recognition, tenderness, and company, alongside whatever other support you have.
