About the creator
I’m Jesse. I’m a Vancouver-based entrepreneur, creative director and Lifestyle Architect, which is really just my way of describing a life spent thinking about how things look, feel, function and bring people together.
I’m a lifelong lover of good things, though not necessarily expensive things. A beautifully set table, a really good meal, an old house, a great hotel, fresh flowers, a perfectly worn-in sweater, a long dinner with people I love. I’m endlessly curious about how we live and, more importantly, how we make everyday life feel a little more special.
I own a little French-inspired café and grocer with my partner, Triet, and together we’ve spent the last several years building businesses, recently building our home, travelling whenever we can and finding any excuse to have people over. I love cooking, interiors, fashion, entertaining and flying. I want to learn how to sail. I love discovering a wonderful restaurant in a new city almost as much as I love cooking dinner at home for twenty people. I have a lot of interests, and this club is where I finally get to put all of them in one place.
Once a month, I’m going to send you a proper letter in the mail. Think of it as a seat at my table and a little piece of our home, sent to yours.
There will always be something to cook. It might be breakfast, lunch, dinner, a cocktail or something sweet. During the holidays, I’ll share what I’m actually making, or something I’ve made and loved in years past, sometimes with an entire menu and my notes for pulling it all together.
There will be a letter from me about whatever happens to be occupying my mind that month. What we’re working on, what’s happening at home, something I’ve discovered, somewhere we’ve travelled, what I’m buying, cooking, reading or dreaming about. Maybe you’ll get my favourite addresses in Paris or New York. Maybe I’ll tell you about a dinner party we’re planning. Maybe I’ll have just discovered the world’s greatest sheets and feel everyone needs to know about them.
I’ll also be sharing more of my personal writing. I grew up in a pretty tumultuous home, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how much of the life I’ve created today has been shaped by the one I came from. Some of those stories are difficult, others are incredibly sweet, and around the holidays especially, I’ll be sharing memories that help explain why home, food, tradition and gathering people around a table mean so much to me.
There will probably be an illustration, something crafty or beautiful to keep, and undoubtedly a few surprises along the way.
I don’t want this to feel like another newsletter. I want you to look forward to seeing the envelope in your mailbox. Something to make a cup of coffee for, sit down with, cook from, scribble on and hopefully keep.
