About the Artist & Author Elaine W. Duree Creator of Wunderkammer Dispatch I have spent my life at the intersection of nature, art, and story. As a veteran homeschooling mother of five, children’s book author and illustrator, and art educator, I created Wunderkammer Dispatch to bring the magic of classical studio practice and natural science directly into the hands of young learners. Growing up with a deep wonder for the natural world—tracking sky cycles, sketching nature, and collecting small treasures—I learned early on that true discovery begins with slow, intentional observation. Long before modern screens, the world’s greatest thinkers, naturalists, and painters learned by gathering specimens, keeping field notes, and building personal Wunderkammers (Chambers of Wonders). Every monthly dispatch is thoughtfully illustrated and written right from my studio in Missouri. Blending pre-1930 master artwork, original natural science paintings, tactile watercolor practice sheets, and rich historical stories, my mission is simple: to help families slow down, cultivate curiosity, and build a keep-forever portfolio of living learning.
