Dear Gentle Reader, I am a retired woman who has found myself longing for some of the quieter pleasures of days gone by—the feel of a beautiful sheet of paper, the scratch of a pen, and the anticipation of finding a letter waiting in the post. In our busy, modern world, it is surprisingly easy to feel a little disconnected. I created The League of Gentle Correspondence for that very reason. I wanted to create a place where we might slow our pace, put pen to paper, and reach out to one another once again. Perhaps you, too, have wished for someone to write to. Perhaps there are others who are waiting for a thoughtful word, just as you are. My hope is that this little League will encourage us to begin reaching out—not with grand gestures, but with small acts of thoughtfulness, one letter at a time. So, dear reader, take a moment, find a comfortable chair, pick up your pen, and let us return—if only for a little while—to the simple pleasure of corresponding.
