Hello, I am Florence, the true creator behind The Whimsy Letter Society. I am an avid reader, a fiber art lover (crochet and knitting), and someone who finds peace in a quiet afternoon with a book and a cup of tea, or sitting on my porch listening to nature. Somewhere along the way, I began imagining a mail society, a small village called Sea Oak and the residents who might live there. Before long, I wanted their letters to leave my imagination and arrive in someone’s mailbox. Perhaps yours. In Sea Oak’s fictional history, seventeen-year-old Nora Whimsy founded the Society in 1917, writing to soldiers far from home and offering warmth and company across the distance. Generations later, her granddaughter, Erma Finch, decided it was time to begin again. Meet Erma Finch, Keeper of the Society. Erma is practical, opinionated, fiercely devoted to Sea Oak, and exceptionally well informed about her neighbors. At this juncture, she would like you to understand that being informed is entirely different from being nosy. As Keeper, she helps introduce you to the village and the residents whose letters you’ll receive. The residents of Sea Oak are like you and I, they have friendships, family troubles, projects, opinions, and stories to tell. I create the world, write the letters, and prepare the envelopes. Erma keeps an eye on village affairs and, occasionally, on me. Sea Oak is fictional. The letters arriving in your mailbox are real. Erma and I would be delighted if you'd join us in the small world that is Sea Oak and Renssel County.
