Hi, I'm Carly.
I'm a wife, a mom of two (soon to be 3), and a former kindergarten teacher.
Some of my favorite moments with my kids happen in the middle of ordinary days—packing a picnic lunch, wandering down a trail, collecting acorns, reading library books together, or listening to the little songs they make up as they play.
As my children have grown, I've realized something surprising.
The memories I treasure most aren't birthdays or vacations.
They're the tiny moments I almost missed.
One afternoon, my children stopped to collect two little green acorns on a hike. That simple moment eventually became the inspiration for the very first Ordinary Treasures story. But what stayed with me wasn't really the acorns—it was realizing how naturally children notice the beauty in ordinary things, and how often I needed the reminder to slow down and notice alongside them.
That's why I created Ordinary Treasures.
Each month, Brecken shares a letter about one ordinary adventure and the treasure he chose to remember. My hope is that, as families read together, children begin collecting treasures of their own—not because the objects are valuable, but because of the memories they hold.
I hope Ordinary Treasures becomes more than something that arrives in your mailbox.
I hope it becomes a small family tradition.
