A context sheet explains the people and events behind it, with a transcript when the handwriting needs one. Documents are chosen with archivists and grouped into four-letter themes such as inventions, American wars and diplomacy.

Month to month costs $8.99, and prepaid plans are $47.99 for six months, $87.99 for a year or $164.99 for two years. US shipping is free; the first letter leaves within five business days and later ones mid-month. Letters can go to any country with international stamps.
