The Max Letters
A fantasy adventure for young readers told in 24 illustrated chapter letters
The Max Letters tells a complete fantasy story by mail, set in a land of elves, wizards and talking beasts in the spirit of Narnia. Readers get two chapter letters a month for a year, each with two or three pages of story, the author's hand-drawn watercolor illustrations, a note to the reader and occasional inserts or map pieces. Parents get discussion prompts for every letter.
The Adventure Begins and Rhena's Path suit ages 8 to 14, and Folktales of Gaspaar ages 6 to 12. Plans are $13 a month for 12 months or $129 prepaid. Letters leave the US on the 14th and 28th and reach international readers within about six weeks.
