Art Subscription Boxes for Adults
A monthly art subscription is how a lot of people build their first real collection. For the cost of a modest dinner out, an independent artist mails you a signed original print, a small painting, or a curated piece of their current work. Every month, quietly, directly.
Below is our curated list of 40+ active art subscription boxes: print-of-the-month clubs, mini-painting envelopes from established illustrators, curated boxes from printmakers, and a few unconventional picks (a signed first-edition photobook club, a travel postcard-map subscription). Each entry is verified active, with real pricing and working links.

Frequently asked
What's the difference between an art subscription and a craft subscription?+
Art subscriptions ship finished pieces: signed prints, small paintings, postcards, photobooks. Craft subscriptions ship supplies and instructions so you make something yourself (Adults & Crafts Crate, SketchBox, ScrawlrBox fall into craft). If you want to hang something on a wall, you want an art subscription. If you want a project for a Sunday afternoon, you want a craft subscription.
Are monthly art prints a good way to start collecting?+
Yes, with caveats. A $10–$20/month print club is the single cheapest entry point into owning original-ish art from working artists (they're limited editions, not one-of-ones). Signed prints from Dimitra Milan, Ellen von Wiegand, Michelle Passey, and Charcoal Book Club's photobooks have meaningful resale floors. For serious collectors, Charcoal Book Club ($58–$65/mo) is the genuine art-investment subscription in this list.
Which art subscription boxes ship internationally?+
Most of our featured picks do: The Mossheart Mail Club from the UK, The Quiet Post from Australia/Tasmania, Lorkelle from Ireland, Puuung from Korea, Art Mail Club from France (worldwide included), Monthly Muse Mail Club from the US with free worldwide shipping. Charcoal Book Club ships free to US/UK/EU/Canada.
What's a realistic monthly budget to collect art through subscriptions?+
$10/month gets you one club, usually a 5×7 signed print with a letter. $30/month across three clubs gives a nicely varied mailbox (one print club + one postcard/mini club + one themed club). At $50+/month you can add higher-end offerings like Charcoal Book Club or Not Your Mama's Mail Club. Don't stack more than 4–5 clubs; you'll stop actually looking at the pieces.
Are these clubs legit? Do I really get what's promised?+
Every club on this list has been active and shipping within the last 60 days, with a working subscribe link and recent social-media posts. Artist-run clubs occasionally pause (life happens). If a club goes quiet for a full month or two, we remove it. Complaints almost always resolve around shipping delays on international routes (2–6 weeks untracked is normal), not missing goods.
Can I gift an art subscription?+
Most clubs on this list support gift subscriptions. Not Your Mama's Mail Club, Charcoal Book Club, A Year of Poems in the Mail and The Letter Writers Club Box all have explicit gift flows. Several (like A Year of Poems) are paid annually up front, which makes them especially good gifts because the recipient never sees a recurring charge.
