Signup questions
Ask new members for what you need to know, like a child's name or a birthday, and find their answers where you prepare your mail.
Signup questions let you ask new members something when they join: the name to write on the letter, a birthday, a favorite animal, how they heard about you. Their answers appear in your subscriber details, your shipping lists and your exports.
Add a question
- Go to Subscription → Signup questions.
- Pick a ready-made question (Birthday, How you heard about us, Parental consent) or start from a blank one:
| Type | For |
|---|---|
| Short text | A name, a username |
| Paragraph | A longer answer |
| One choice | Pick one option from a list |
| Several choices | Tick any options from a list |
| Number | An age, a size |
| Date | A birthday, an anniversary |
| Checkbox | A yes, such as a consent |
- Make it Required if members can't join without answering.
- If you have tiers, choose in Asked in which tiers ask it.
You can add up to 10 questions. Every question makes checkout a little longer, so we show a reminder past 4.
Where members answer
- At checkout, under the payment details.
- When someone gives your club as a gift, on the gift's payment page, under About the recipient: the buyer answers for the person receiving it.
- Later, on their manage page: members can change their answers under Your answers (see Manage your subscription). Changes apply from the next mailing.
Where you see the answers
- Subscribers → Details: every answer, and you can edit them.
- Mailings → a mailing's Subscribers: the answers next to each address, so you can write the right name on each letter.
- Birthdays: with a Birthday question, members with a birthday that month get a 🎂 badge in the mailing's list.
- Choice questions: the number of members who picked each option.
- CSV exports: one column per question, in both the Subscribers and the mailing exports.
Change or remove a question
You can edit a question's wording and options anytime. A question nobody has answered yet can be deleted. Once someone has answered it, it's archived instead: new members aren't asked anymore, and the answers you already have stay in your lists and exports.
